Two-Mile-Creek
is the name of a park located in northeast Georgia at Lake Lanier, off GA Highway 369 (Bethel Road.) Two Mile Creek park offers swimming, fishing, picnicking facilities with tables and grills, a boat ramp and restrooms. Lake Sidney Lanier, also called simply Lake Lanier, encompasses 38,000 acres and has a shoreline of 692 miles. The city of Gainsville, Georgia is located along the shore of the lake. Lake Sidney Lanier is well known for its' boating, jet skiing, water skiing and other water sports. Approximately 7.5 people visit the lake each year. The rowing and sprint canoeing events were held here in the 1996 Summer Olympics and it hosted the 2003 Canoe Sprint World Championships. Each year from mid-November through December, the Lake Lanier Islands are decorated with over six miles of holiday lights, which makes it one of the largest holiday light shows in the world. In addition to the light show, there are carnival rides, a Santa Shop, a live nativity, and bonfire. One resort hotel is located at Lake Sidney Lanier, and it's the site of two of the largest freshwater marinas in the world. Aqualand Marina is located near the town of Flowery Branch, and Holiday Marina is located in Buford. For shopping and dining, the city of Gainsville offers a charming historic area with over fifty unique shops and restaurants.

Northeast Georgia climate is greatly influenced by the Appalachian Mountains, and differs significantly from the rest of the state. This area has four distinct seasons. Summers are warm and typically has lengthy spells of hot, humid weather. Spring and fall are mild with much variability from day to day. The first freeze is usually in October in the mountains. Winter temperatures average in the 40s during the day and 20s at night. Snow is light, with about 4 to 6 inches each year. Annual average rainfall in this region is over 60 inches. The driest months are September and October. The wettest month is March. Thunderstorms are common in spring and summer.
